Regional Seminar on Teacher Education 2013

The National Institute of Education, Singapore, hosted the 21st Governing Board Meeting of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation – Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO-RIHED) on 27 and 28 September 2013. NIE also hosted the 9th Back to Back Regional Seminar on Teacher Education on 28 September 2013.
SEAMEO is a regional intergovernmental organisation established in 1965 by the governments of Southeast Asian countries. Hosted by the Government of Thailand, SEAMEO-RIHED plays an important role in facilitating discussions, professional trainings, research, information dissemination, development and quality assurance within the higher education sector. The Governing Board Meeting was planned back-to-back with the WERA-IRN Teacher Education symposium. At the 9th SEAMEO-RIHED Regional Seminar on Teacher Education on 28 September 2013, the WERA-IRN speakers were panel members on the plenary session on teacher education. The panel, chaired by Prof Tan Oon Seng, commented on the SEAMEO-RIHED countries’ reports on teacher education and shared their insights on teacher education. The event concluded with strengthened relationships between the countries and new learning for both SEAMEO-RIHED representatives and the WERA-IRN symposium speakers.
